Medium to large plants: adding scale and context

An expertly placed medium-to-large plant can affect the senses both visually and emotionally.

Here, we selected a small conical evergreen to go on the curve of the planter to help provide proper scale for the area. An evergreen was chosen to have continuity with the rest of the trees, and also to add a nice contrast in size.

Since this planting would be close to the terrace area, we desired something a little more formal than the large specimens in the background, yet wanted to mimic their shape. This tiny tree accomplishes that beautifully.
