As Adamovicz designed the softscape elements, he worked to evoke a secluded garden atmosphere without walling off the property entirely. “The clients didn’t want a wall of evergreens all around the sides,” he explains.
Instead, he selected flowering trees and bushes to flank the deck walkway, and complemented them with fruit trees around the perimeter. “We added flowering cherry, pear and plum trees on the side wall,” he says.
All the plants were carefully chosen for their colorful blooms. “They’ll bloom beautifully in the summer, when the pool will mostly be used,” Adamovicz says.
Starting from that stone, the designers worked to match the other materials to a consistent color scheme. They even adapted the travertine for use as coping around the pool and spa, and along the tops of the walls. “The coping is the same travertine, but bullnosed,” Abbrancati explains.
