UAG and PoolCorp Form Strategic Alliance

Two major pool industry groups have formed a strategic alliance.

Las Vegas-based United Aqua Group named PoolCorp its preferred distributor at its shareholders’ meeting during the SPARK 2015 annual conference.

The newly formed relationship is part of the corporation’s strategic alignment and continued progress towards innovation, growth, and long-term shareholder value and better positions itself to meet its members’ time sensitive or expanded product needs, according to a press release.

“This organization is changing for the good. New partnerships will be formed. Existing priorities will be adjusted. New ideas will be heard. And as we evolve, we will only be better and stronger with the vitality to continuously achieve more,” said UAG chairman of the board, Don Gwiz, during his announcement.

PoolCorp equally is celebrating the partnership.

“[We are] thrilled to be part of this new chapter for United Aqua Group,” said Donna Williams, PoolCorp general manager for sales, marketing, and product management, according to a press release.

This latest news falls on the heels of major changes for both organizations.

In March 2014, UAG announced a new branding initiative. And at the end of the year, its longtime CEO Jeff Fausett retired from the helm of the 52-year-old buying group.

Meanwhile, despite an ongoing industry antitrust lawsuit involving the mega-distributor, (Zodiac and Hayward have since settled) PoolCorp has been enjoying its expansion into Australia, the launch of its new model retail store concept, and an historic stock performance.
