Once upon a time the hot tub was a stationary pool of hot water typically found in a resort, health spa or a consumer’s backyard. But hot tubs have recently gone mobile — a phenomenon that is allowing customers to enjoy a variety of activities while they take a relaxing soak.

Hot tub as movie theater seating: Those longing to watch a movie in a pop-up location while sitting in an inflatable hot tub among friends and strangers can finally do so. Each hot tub has its own waiter to attend to guests’ needs. The company launched in London in 2012 and is now spreading throughout Australia. Plans to bring Hot Tub Cinema to the U.S. are in the works.

Hot tub as boat: The HotTug allows locals and tourists to explore the Regent’s Canal in London via a hot tub. The Tug is a wood-fired floating hot tub powered by an electric engine. ‘HotTuggers’ can operate the boat by themselves, and the experience lasts for 90 minutes.
