In September and October, the first classes were held by the Pool Chemistry Training Institute.

Renowned pool/spa chemical expert Robert Lowry and plaster specialist Greg Garrett developed the education and certification program to provide intensive classes devoted solely to residential pool and spa chemistry.

At its core class, Pool Chemistry Certified Residential (PCC-R), the PCTI certified 90 of the 92 students who attended the four classes in California and Phoenix.

Garrett said the duo is now refining the six hour course, which ends with a one-hour, 50-question exam.

Before year’s end, they plan to hold sessions in San Diego, Palm Springs and Orange County, Calif., as well as Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Las Vegas.
