Don Wilson Passes Away

The founder of HASA also helped start the Western Pool and Spa Show

Don Wilson

Don Wilson, co-founder of the Western Pool and Spa Show and a longtime industry presence, passed away on April 23. He was 88.

He founded HASA Inc., a 52-year-old, family-run chemical company based in Saugus, Calif. It handles the production, sale and distribution of sodium hypochlorite and related products to the swimming pool, industrial and water treatment markets in the western United States.

Wilson also was president/co-founder of the Swimming Pool Trades & Contractors Association, which was established to support industry professionals in regulatory and governmental matters.

His memberships included SPEC, now known as the California Pool & Spa Association, and the Independent Pool & Spa Service Association. His involvements didn’t stop with industry groups. For more than 30 years, Wilson was a supporter of the USA Olympic Aquatics Programs – swimming and water polo.
